michael forzzas is one of the most important techno djs from belgium. like figure head len faki, michael forzzas speciality is to play extended sets which develop an individual athmosphere. figure 015 is forzzas first international release, and forzza sent two unique tracks to berlin, the tenor & the monkey is destined to turn the dancefloor into a frenzy. it puts you in a state of fear and euphoria at the same time. while the tenor & the monkey puts the roof of every club on fire, high on this is more cautious. the powerful groove unfolds its energy in many contexts. the pulse of the track immediate, it feels like the music is talking to each dancer personally. the tenor & the monkey and high on this don t show any effort, yet the tracks rule over the dancefloor: they both manage to focus on the essence of club music, a rarely achieved task these days.

rudolf has been on fire for the past few months, most notably with a solo album and a collaboration ep with partner in crime cesare vs disorder on pheeks acclaimed archipel label. this time he delivers the goods with delicacy, solid grooves and bouncy club music on his mind. the productions on this 4 tracker (one available only digital) all have a common feature: structured with beautiful, refined sounds. guitar improvisations here and there, soulful vocals in and out and deep basslines. the whole ep is decorated with an ongoing tribal feel, sexy, percussive rhythms and rubbery noises that tease the listener all the way through. this jackin and funky ep splits in the border between techno and house, and will instantly seduce clubbers all around the world.

after several months of underground pressure the orbital classic kinetic by golden girls (paul & phil hartnoll along with mike hazell) is finally getting a full release. one of the most ecstatic rave stabs ever is at the heart of this record and has now been reworked for 09 dancefloors by floorplay music - the label run by hot brighton production duo prok & fitch. the story began a year ago with prok & fitchs golden shower remix. instead of going down the bootleg or cover route they paid their dues and licensed the original track for their new label floorplay and set about getting some hot names to remix it. top of the pile is atfc who takes the original and gives it a tough house makeover. this man has been responsible for a few classic records of his own over the years so this combination is unstoppable. with the original orbital mix included this is an all time classic tastefully revisited.

this obscure lost soundtrack for an even more obscure (and also lost and never finished) italia violenta cop movie was recently discovered when i bought the dusty reel tapes from a restaurant owner in fiumicino, a seaside town near rome. panter 777 aka il labirinto di roma violenta aka the maze of violence, he told me, was directed by gervasio giardano in 1981 and was considered too (politically) explicit by the movie production company who dropped the project after the first screening. the soundtrack, an explosion of wahwah funk riffs and juicy analog synthesizers, was composed by an obscure band called nacho patrol. the restaurant owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, was one of the band members and composed most of the tracks.
